Class begins at 8:30am (sharp) and ends at approximately 5:00pm. Lunch will be for 30-minutes and it will be a working lunch, please bring your lunch. Additional breaks will be provided by the instructor. Price includes textbook, review course and exam, there will be no refunds, once you have registered. Students should arrive 15 minutes prior to class. AHR Members: $175 and Non-Members: $225. Pre-registration is required. Classes are held at the Subway office located at 1118 East 70th, unless otherwise posted.

Henning Inc. Multi-Employer Job Fair is happening on May 18th from 1pm to 3pm at The Guest House in Anchorage.

Assembly Member Volland and the Legislative Services team are looking forward to the opportunity to speak with hospitality industry stakeholders about the voter-approved Alcohol Tax is being put to work to address Anchorage’s most pressing community issues and making the most of this summer season through new liquor license permitting opportunities and a campaign focused on Anchorage’s bright future.

Topic: What’s good for local businesses is good for Anchorage! Learn how the voter-approved Alcohol Tax is being put to work to address Anchorage’s most pressing community issues and how the Assembly is working to grow outdoor dining and drinking culture under the midnight sun. Assembly members will give a progress report on the Assembly’s work this year to cut red tape and grow your business for the good of Anchorage.

Soup’R Bowl XIV Soup Contest 2023 – Saturday, February 11, 2023

The Soup’R Bowl event invites our community to taste and judge soups from local kitchens in specific categories for a donation of $20 per person.

WHERE: This year the fundraiser will be held at 907 Alehouse (8001 Old Seward Hwy.)

WHEN: Saturday, February 11, 2023, from Noon to 2PM.

Each guest will be given color-coded tabs to vote for their favorite soups. If they love your soup they will drop their category-colored tab at your station. A runner will be collecting the tabs and tallying scores. For every five votes, a restaurant receives a football representing their restaurant and will move one space down the field. Winners will be announced once tabs have all been collected and tallied. We’re expecting a high-energy atmosphere with an MC talking about each restaurant; tasting their soup, talking about the soup, and the progress it is making.

The Soup’r Bowl event is to raise funds for a local charity while enabling local eateries to compete for the title of best soup. This event is being organized by Alaska Hospitality Retailers the charity is the Anchorage Hospitality Foundation, which facilitates transitional services for the people in our community wanting a life without chemical dependency. Your time and product contribution to this event is 100% tax deductible.

What we will provide:

  • Tablecloth
  • 2 fl. oz. cups for customer tasting
  • Spoons
  • Napkins
  • Seating guests
  • 1st, 2nd, place awards for each category and one best overall perpetual trophy to remain at winning restaurant for one year.
  • Food safety tips
  • Media exposure of your before, during, & after event.

What we need from you:

  • Business LOGO, emailed to [email protected]
  • Pick one category, for example: A New England clam chowder choose either a cream or seafood category. Same soup cannot compete in two categories
  • Someone from the restaurant to serve and talk about the soup and restaurant
  • 3 to 5 gallons of soup
  • Decorate your station to reflect your restaurant (optional)
  • A way to keep your soup chilled or hot
  • Extension cord***
  • Doors open for set up at 10:30am
  • No fryers (please)

APPLICATIONS CLOSED: Restaurant Hunger Relief Program – Winter 2022

Alaska Hospitality Retailers, United Way of Anchorage, and the Municipality of Anchorage are happy to continue the “Restaurant Hunger Relief Program,” a meals food program.

Applications for the Restaurant Hunger Relief Program are now CLOSED. Thanks to everyone who applied.

A lottery will select 12 restaurants on Thursday, December 1 at 1:30 p.m. and the location is TBA.

The new program will begin on Monday, December 12, 2022.

Thank you for your interest in helping your community! This program is designed to contract with Anchorage-based restaurants to prepare meals for local underserved communities. This is an opportunity to support both the service industry and those who are experiencing food insecurity.

New Security Training for AKHR Members
